Our client is a renowned utilities management and design organisation, committed to providing innovative solutions in utilities design, construction management, electrical engineering and digital engineering which operates across multiple states.
As a
Utilities Design Manager / Project Manager
, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful management and delivery of critical utilities infrastructure projects. You will be contributing to overseeing utilities risks, managing relationships with utility companies and optimising time and cost positions.
We are seeking a candidate with strong technical expertise in utilities management, ideally with a civil background.
Our client specialises in all utility disciplines including electricity, water, wastewater, gas, and telecommunications, across a wide range of infrastructure projects, including traditional and renewable technologies. There are subject matter experts in each discipline within the company.
Responsibilities
Management and Oversight of Utilities: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams of clients to integrate utilities strategies across packages and contracts; provide general support for utility-related issues; conduct SME reviews on utility-related design submissions; coordinate utility designers, surveyors and Utilities Digital Engineers; manage utilities site investigations and early works packages; identify time and cost improvement opportunities; escalate utilities issues to senior management for timely mitigation; prepare and present regular reports and presentations to senior leadership on utilities risks; support Utilities Project Managers in guidance and professional development.
Risk Mitigation and Strategy: Take charge of utilities risk management, identify significant risks, and collaborate to establish effective mitigation measures; develop mitigating strategies with senior management to minimise delays and cost escalation.
Collaboration, Support & Business Development: Provide tender support and coordination for tender packages, maintain strong relationships with clients, utility owners, authorities and other external stakeholders; work with the wider utilities team; identify opportunities for new work and support bids, including input to tender submissions and presentations.
Utilities Delivery Leadership: Lead and coordinate with utility designers, contractors and designers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of utility works.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Strong communication, problem-solving and strategic decision-making skills.
Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Proven experience in project management, particularly in utilities infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of utility management, construction processes, and risk mitigation.
