The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW with the most culturally, socially and economically diverse communities in Sydney.
We deliver 21 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents.
Role
TAG Graduate Environmental Compliance & Protection Officer— This position aids in enforcing public health, environmental and land-use regulations as outlined by various laws.
It is part of the Planning Department and reports to the Team Leader of Environmental Compliance & Protection.
Duties / Responsibilities
Providing a high standard of customer service, remaining customer focused and solving problems through consultation and decision making in accordance with Council Values.
Responding to tasks within the appropriate time frames and managing workloads to ensure all tasks are completed.
Developing a working knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, Contaminated Land Management Act, Boarding House Act, Swimming Pool Act and Public Health Act.
Assisting with evidence gathering, accurate note taking, preparing and writing reports, and presenting information.
Ability to work as part of a team and support staff where required.

You will have
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent as accredited by Environmental Health Australia or nearing completion thereof.
A current C Class driver's license.
Salary and benefits
The salary range for this opportunity starts at$71,819 (Grade D, Step 1) + 12% super.
Salary may be negotiable depending on skills and experience.
