Position Summary
We now seek a highly experienced
Game Designer
to assist in the creation and development of poker machine (slot) games.
About the Role
The Game Designer assists in the creation and development of poker machine (slot) games, including contributing ideas for initial concepts, the design of the mathematical model used in the poker machine game, performing payback calculations, and running simulations to verify the correctness of those calculations. The person in this position will also primarily be responsible for creating required submission documents for gaming regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
Assist in the creation of concepts for new poker machine games that maximize player appeal and game performance.
Assist in the design of fun, innovative math models.
Responsible for all math model calculations for assigned games, including base game/free games, bonus features, and all payback percentages, hit frequencies, standard deviations, and other metrics as appropriate.
Create programming tools to verify math models and analyze game play characteristics.
Prepare Excel spreadsheets for regulatory submission, adhering to company standards for formatting and mathematical methods.
Review calculations of other Game Designers prior to regulatory submission, ensuring correctness and adherence to standards.
Develop new and improve existing mathematical methods.
Work with regulatory agencies as needed to address and resolve math-related compliance issues.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in mathematics, especially probability and statistics.
Proficiency in Excel, including linking and formulas to dynamically calculate probabilities and describe complicated probabilistic events.
Curiosity, creativity, and high personal integrity.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), especially the ability to convey complex mathematical concepts to non-specialists.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Knowledge of the industry is desirable.
Intermediate programming skills in C++, C#, Python, Unity, or related languages is desirable.
Education
Bachelor's degree with a strong mathematical component, emphasizing probability and statistics, or equivalent experience.
