About the Role Our client is currently seeking a DevOps Engineer specialised in Rancher / SUSE products to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and designing our Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipelines, containerised applications, and cloud infrastructure using industry best practices.
Other tools and tasks include Terraform and enhancing the scalability, reliability, and security of our DevOps ecosystem.
You'll collaborate closely with software engineers, QA specialists, infrastructure teams, and project stakeholders to ensure seamless application deployment and consistent environment performance across development, staging, and production.
This role requires a proactive mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong passion for DevOps and cloud-native technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Deploy, manage, and scale Kubernetes clusters using Rancher in cloud and hybrid environmentsTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to Rancher, Kubernetes nodes, workloads, and networkingMaintain high availability and fault tolerance of Rancher-managed clustersDesign, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo CD, or similarAutomate deployment workflows for microservices and containerized applicationsVersion control all infrastructure-related code and promote GitOps methodologiesImplement logging, monitoring, and alerting using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or DatadogImplement DevSecOps practices to ensure secure deployments and infrastructure hardeningManage secrets using tools like HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or Kubernetes Secret Skills & Experience: Experience with Rancher RKE2 or K3s for lightweight or edge cluster managementExperience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure automation rolesProficient with Kubernetes architecture, Helm, ingress controllers, and service meshesStrong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or GoExperience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Argo CD, etc.)Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps and containerizationDesirables:Familiarity with SUSE NeuVector for container runtime security and network policy enforcementHands-on with SUSE Longhorn for cloud-native distributed storage in Kubernetes environmentsAdvanced Kubernetes networking: CNI plugins, service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd), ingress configuration, network policiesAbility to travel within the region Requirement Australian working rights.
