About the Role- Fixed term contract for 12 months based in Brisbane (or Roma)- Progress your career within Australia's leading energy company- Newly created position supporting environmental compliance & projects for QLD Gas Assets

Supporting environmental assessment, planning approvals, risk and compliance management for operations across some of AGL's key Gas & Renewables sites, this role is designed to help ensure there is technical rigour, quality control and collaboration across the environment team.

This is a fixed term position for a period of 12 months, based in Brisbane (or Roma) with a requirement for regular travel to remote regional sites.

What you'll be doing:
In your new role of Environment Advisor, you will work closely with the Queensland and New South Wales Environment Manager to assist in gathering relevant data and information, developing reports, and providing generalist environmental support to Gas & Renewables sites, predominantly the Silver Springs Gas Fields Gas Storage and Production business.

In addition, you will:
- Assist with the management and implementation of environmental management systems, risk management, licensing, compliance and regulatory requirements associated with the gas fields- Implement programs to drive alignment with environment objectives and make enhancements to existing programs- Project manage specialist consultants, contractors and laboratories responsible for field investigation, data collection and analysis programs, and carry out field based monitoring (e.g. groundwater) when required.- Develop and build quality relationships across the AGL business as well as contractors and external stakeholders- Keep up-to-date with developments in environmental management through internal and external networking and communicate changes on environment legislation and policy- Develop relevant reports, write and update instructional documentation, participate in environmental assurance activities

About You

As a proactive professional in the field of environmental management, you will have experience in preparation and review of technical documentation including flora and fauna assessments and associated environmental approvals, an understanding of Local, State and Federal legislation, and providing sound technical advice across a range of environmental matters including biodiversity, contaminated land and waste management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to engage with people at all levels will contribute to you developing quality relationships with regulatory authorities, Councils, consultants, and contractors.

Keeping abreast of relevant legislation, regulations and best environmental management practice, you will have a strategic understanding of project management methodologies and be able to provide advice and support on environmental aspects of projects and operations.
