Head of Department - Design and Technology

The Role
Melville SHS is seeking to appoint a dynamic Head of Learning Area (HoLA) – Design and Technology with the experience, dedication, and drive to continue to develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning in the areas of Digital Technologies, Design and Technology, Aviation and Home Economics.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience building a collaborative team and leading curriculum development.
The HoLA – Design and Technology should display a strong understanding of evidence-based best practice in teaching and learning, supported by excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
This role calls for a collaborative leader who can work effectively with staff, students, and the wider community to achieve positive outcomes.
They will lead and manage a dynamic Design and Technologies team to deliver a high-quality curriculum that maximises student achievement.
The successful applicant should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Technologies Curriculum and can teach across Years 7 to 12.
In addition, the successful applicant should have teaching expertise in at least one Technologies area (Digital Technologies, Design and Technology, or Home Economics) and have a comprehensive knowledge of the full range of Technologies courses including General, Vocational education and training (VET) and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
Melville SHS is a Lead School in the Department's Quality Teaching Strategy, therefore knowledge of and experience leading Teaching for Impact is also highly desirable.
