**About Your Role**
Thales Australia is a premier provider of systems, products and services in the defence, security and civil markets in Australia and throughout the world.
The Protected Vehicles Domain conducts manufacturing, engineering and product support activities connected to the Bushmaster and Hawkei protected vehicles in its Bendigo manufacturing facility and at a range of support facilities nation-wide.
The Purchasing Officer will support the Support Services team in ensuring that all product, expense and commodity purchasing is carried out in accordance with company policy. The Purchasing Officer shall ensure that the demands of their customer are being met at all times.
This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish and actively maintain stakeholder relationships with supplier base
- Ensure best value for money product is obtained and delivered to customer expectations
- Satisfying the procurement and supply requirements for the Services & Support group
- Monitoring order action reports to ensure all required supplies are ordered from vendors
- Analysing and reporting supplier performance on time and price variance
- Analysing and reporting key Suppliers performance
- Evaluating best cost options when selecting preferred suppliers
- Contribute to forecasting and future planning relating to procurement and inventory
- Update records and supplier price book
- Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure safe working environment
- Take an active role in Continuous Improvement projects
**How About You?**
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:
- APICs Certification in Production and Inventory Management or equivalent
- Sound computer skills in MS Office products
- Practical knowledge of MRP II planning systems in particular InFor
- Sound knowledge of business principles and procedures - purchasing, quality
- Knowledge of OH&S requirements within the workplace
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to ensure cost effective and reliable delivery performance
**Good to Know**
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
Prior to offer you'll complete a pre-employment police and medical check. Thales also complies with current public health orders in place and as such you may be requested to provide your COVID-19 vaccination record.
