**What does a Dental Assistant do?**

Dental Assistant's are an integral part of the team at any Dental office.

A Dental Assistant works closely with patients and colleagues everyday and strives towards providing a positive experience for all. As a Trainee Dental Assistant, you'll study dentistry techniques and perform general office duties, including a range of patient care and laboratory duties
- You will be working 30-35 hours per week while studying a Certificate III in Dental Assisting
- If successful, you will be gaining experience in the workplace with one of our host employers.
- Traineeship duration: 12 months

**Duties may include but not limited to**:

- Greet patients and prepare them for treatment
- Mix materials for fillings; sterilise and prepare instruments
- Arrange and hand instruments, medication and dental materials to practitioners
- Prepare dental materials and develop x-rays
- Use suction devices and water sprays
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment
- May advise patients on dental health education and post-operative care
- May act as receptionist for dental practitioners, perform billing and other clerical tasks.
- Maintaining high standards of infection control
- Any other tasks requested by the host employer

- Be well presented, enthusiastic, reliable and punctual
- Be motivated with a positive attitude
- Must have strong attention to detail & good dexterity skills
- High level of personal presentation
- Great listening abilities & compassionate nature
