Instrument Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Instrument Technician to join our Perioperative Services team in a casual position. Applications are invited for Grade 1 to 4 level. This position offers a great chance to work within a supportive and professional team and contribute to the delivery of safe patient care.
The position:
In this role you will work under supervision to provide sterilisation support to the BRHS theatres by cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilising reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment within BRHS. As a collaborative member of the CSSD team, you will work within established procedures to ensure the requirements of the surgical services department are met, and the services provided by other consumers are maintained.

Key criteria required:
- Certificate lll or IV in Sterilisation Services for Grade 3 or 4 Levels. For Grades 1 or 2 this would be desirable.
- Prior experience working in a CSSD team.
- A good understanding of the role of an Instrument Technician
- Proficiency complying with standards of practice and demonstrated accountability for actions in all aspects of the work environment
- Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

The CSSD is a vital component of the BRHS Surgical Services department which also encompasses the Operating Suite, Pre-admission Clinic, Day Procedure Unit and the Elective Surgery Access Service. The CSSD is staffed with a small team of instrument technicians and provides full sterilisation support to the Operating Suite and departments throughout the health service, as well as various external clients.
