About the Role

We're currently seeking a passionate Counsellor / Educator to join our Step Up Step Down service in Kalgoorlie. This part-time opportunity (60.8 hours per fortnight) will see you delivering high-quality, person-centred support to people navigating complex AOD and mental health challenges.

As a key team member, you'll:

  • Provide counselling, education, case management and recovery planning
  • Facilitate individual and group sessions
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
  • Build strong community partnerships to support client transitions
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support ongoing service improvement

You'll work weekdays and one Saturday per fortnight, making a direct impact in the lives of those on their recovery journey.

You'll Need

  • A tertiary qualification in health, education, behavioural or social sciences, youth work, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in counselling and working with individuals with co-occurring AOD and mental health issues
  • Strong written, verbal, administrative and IT skills
  • Experience with case management and record keeping
  • A flexible and collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Strong understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality, and culturally secure practices
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight for outreach work when required
  • A valid driver's licence and the ability to pass relevant clearances (National Police Check, WWCC)

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience in AOD or Mental Health sector
  • Familiarity with harm reduction practices
  • Understanding of the regional WA context
  • Experience with mandated clients or methamphetamine-specific interventions
