Pioneer State High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of Department to join our school leadership team and drive excellence in teaching and learning. The head of Department will work closely with staff, students, parents, and the wider community to promote a positive and high-performing
learning culture.

About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Lead Improvement and Innovation: Provide strategic leadership to implement innovative initiatives that enhance student learning outcomes and attendance, particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Support Student Success and Wellbeing: Monitor student performance and behaviour, develop targeted intervention and engagement strategies, and support new arrivals through tailored academic, social, and emotional programs.
- Collaborate and Communicate Effectively: Work closely with parents, staff, leadership teams, external agencies, and community partners to strengthen student achievement, attendance, and school engagement.
- Drive Data-Informed Practice: Prepare and analyse data to inform decision-making, guide staff in utilising performance insights, and contribute to continuous school improvement.
- Lead Responsibly and Strategically: Apply policy and legislative understanding to manage human, financial, and curriculum resources effectively, embedding socially just practices and fostering equitable learning opportunities for all students.
