Governance Trainee

Level 1 - $45, $81,117.20 per annum + 12% superannuation + Certificate IV Business (Business Administration)

18-month Full-Time, Fixed-Term Contract

Your Traineeship

As a Governance Trainee, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting key functions across governance, procurement, strategy, audit, risk, and insurance. This role offers exposure to local government operations, professional development, and a pathway to a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate IV Business).

What You'll Be Doing

Working under the guidance of the Manager Governance, you'll help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

You'll be:

  • Assisting with the administration of governance, procurement, audit, risk, and insurance portfolios
  • Supporting the team with forms, registers, disclosures, and reporting
  • Helping prepare and distribute Council and Committee meeting agendas, book rooms, and organise catering
  • Assisting with governance-related events like Local Government Elections and Citizenship Ceremonies
  • Supporting the review and maintenance of policies and internal procedures
  • Processing requisitions, invoices, advertising, and contract documentation
  • Assisting with the Town's insurance portfolio (excluding workers compensation) and risk management framework
  • Assisting with the Town's integrated planning and reporting processes

This position is based on a fixed-term opportunity of 18 months whilst you complete your Certificate IV Business as part of a traineeship. You'll also be working alongside experienced team members every step of the way.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)
  • Current 'C' class drivers license or have dependable transport to ensure timely arrival at work
  • Rights to work in Australia
