About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our dedicated team at the Riverview Hotel Tarwin Lower. As a key member of our kitchen leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of our food operations. This is a full-time role based in our hotel located in Tarwin Lower, Victoria.

What you'll be doing

  1. Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development and food cost management
  2. Oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation
  3. Supervise and mentor the kitchen team, providing training and development opportunities
  4. Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations
  5. Collaborate with the front-of-house team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our guests
  6. Contribute to the continual improvement of kitchen operations and processes

What we're looking for

  1. Minimum 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent senior role in a high-quality restaurant or hotel kitchen
  2. Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation and cost control
  3. Excellent leadership and team management skills
  4. Proven track record of maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards
  5. Ability to work calmly under pressure and lead the team during busy periods
  6. Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create delicious, innovative dishes
