Come and work as a vital member of our Facilities team here at Mareeba Shire Council, located within an easy one-hour drive from Cairns offering a regional lifestyle with all its benefits in relatively close proximity to Cairns.

The Role:

Our Cleaners provide quality cleaning services for Council facilities, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained.

As the cleaning of some Council facilities needs to be undertaken outside of business hours, our cleaners still work Monday to Friday but work a different pattern of hours to accommodate this. The hours of work for this position are from 10:00am to 7:00pm daily. There may be opportunities for some flexibility around these start and finish times.

The role of Cleaner is physically demanding and requires physical fitness. Any offer of employment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.

What we are looking for:

• You will need to have cleaning experience and skills with knowledge of cleaning techniques and appropriate use of materials
• You will need to have knowledge of the safe use of cleaning products and chemicals and an understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
• You will need basic computer skills
• You will need to be able to work well both autonomously and as part of a team with the ability to work unsupervised and use initiative as required on a daily basis

• Permanent, full-time position
• LGEA Level 1 – $56,237 per annum
• Mareeba Allowance of up to $2,080 per annum
• Work/life balance – 9-day fortnight
