SAMI is part of Colas, a global leader within the Transport Infrastructure Industry, with activities in every aspect of construction and maintenance of roads, air, rail and marine infrastructure.

The Role

SAMI is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be a part of a high performing maintenance team who are responsible for the scheduled & breakdown maintenance of our bitumen production facility in Kwinana.

This role would suit some with a fuels / chemical or manufacturing background.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Perform general maintenance across the plant on a range of machinery and equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities in accordance with designated schedules
  • Identify opportunities to improve plant equipment reliability & cost savings
  • Report near miss and incidents, complete investigations and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Be a team player and have flexibility to carry out site work when required
  • Have proven problem solving skills
  • Be reliable and able to work unsupervised

Skills and Experience:

  • Must be able to obtain a MISC card
  • Experience in the repair of Shear pumps, Hot oil systems, vapour extraction systems & wastewater plant management
  • Experience in MEX or other computerised maintenance systems
  • Welding experience - Pressure piping
  • Experience in fabrication of small plant items

Licenses:

  • Forklift Licence – essential
  • High risk work licence - Dogging, Coded welder
  • Elevated Work Platform, Confined Space
  • Hydraulics and Pneumatics experience - highly desirable
