About the opportunity
Werribee Mercy Hospital has received funding from the Department of Health to pilot the exciting new Neonatal and Postnatal Support Nurse program employing nurses on maternity wards.
Applications are now open for Registered Nurses who have a keen interest in neonatal care or are considering a future career in midwifery
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated registered nurses to join our maternity team as Neonatal and Postnatal Support Nurses. This nursing role is supernumerary to the midwifery roster and has been piloted to innovate and strengthen our maternity model of care.
This dedicated role is in addition to existing midwife to patient ratios and is designed to complement and support established midwifery care. It is pivotal in providing essential support alongside midwives, to care for neonates requiring additional clinical care on the maternity ward. Applications are encouraged from Registered Nurses with experience in neonatal or paediatric care who are passionate about making a difference in maternal and neonatal health.
The program is co ordinated by SaferCare Victoria in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF).
What you'll bring
You're resilient, compassionate and have a whole lot of heart. Most importantly, you are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
●Minimum of one years' experience as a Registered Nurse
●Experience in a maternity, maternal and child health, women's health, neonatal, paediatrics or postoperative environment and/or relevant postgraduate qualifications (essential)
●An interest in pursuing postgraduate education in midwifery, neonatal nursing, women's health or a related field (desirable).
● Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
● A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.
● The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
●Membership of a nursing professional body (desirable).
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
● A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
● Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
