Position Overview

As a Kitchenhand in a fast food restaurant, you will support the efficient preparation and service of food items while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. You will work as part of a high-energy, customer-focused team to ensure quick, consistent, and safe food delivery in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation and Assembly

  • Prepare ingredients and assemble menu items following company procedures and portion standards.

  • Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, and toasters safely and efficiently.

  • Follow strict food safety protocols including proper cooking temperatures and product holding times.

  • Assist in stock rotation and replenishment during and after service.

Cleaning and Hygiene

  • Wash utensils, cooking tools, trays, and equipment using approved methods.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including floors, counters, and waste disposal areas.

  • Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules and complete cleaning checklists.

  • Comply with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards at all times.

Operational Support

  • Restock stations during service and help prepare the kitchen for peak periods.

  • Support front-of-house when required (e.g. order packing, condiment restocking).

  • Assist with unpacking deliveries and storing items according to FIFO and food safety standards.

Skills and Attributes

Essential

  • No prior experience required; full training provided.

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic understanding of hygiene and safety procedures.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions precisely.

  • Availability to work flexible shifts including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in a fast food or high-volume kitchen environment.

  • Completion of Food Safety Training Certificate (e.g. Food Handler Level 1).

Work Environment

  • Busy and dynamic fast food kitchen setting.

  • Requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.

  • Use of commercial kitchen equipment and exposure to heat, noise, and food allergens.
