About us:

Central West Women's Health Centre is a community-based charity run by women for women. We are a dynamic organisation dedicated to assisting children, young people and their families recovering from trauma.  Our approach is centred on evidence-based, and trauma informed therapeutic counselling, utilising a range of age-appropriate techniques in a supportive environment.

Terms and conditions in accordance with the SCHADs award negotiated based on qualification and experience.

Role and responsibilities:

  • As our Psychologist, children and young people, you will deliver high-quality, trauma-informed psychological care to children and young people who have experienced or are at risk of abuse, neglect, domestic and family violence, or other forms of trauma.

You will work collaboratively with families, carers, schools, and community partners to promote recovery, resilience, and long-term wellbeing.

In this rewarding role, you will:

  • Provide psychological assessment, case formulation, and therapeutic interventions for children and adolescents.
  • Deliver services using evidence-based and trauma-informed frameworks such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and play or art-based therapies.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that includes counsellors, caseworkers, and health professionals.
  • Receive ongoing supervision and support from experienced external clinicians specialising in child and adolescent trauma.
  • Contribute to community-based initiatives that strengthen protective factors for children and young people.

Skills and experience:

  • Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in Psychology recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia.

  • Full or provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with the ability to gain full registration within required timeframes.
  • Experience:

  • Understanding of trauma, child development, and family systems.

  • Experience (or placement experience) in therapeutic work with children and adolescents.

Requirements

  • Current Driver's license.
  • National Police check.
  • Fulfil the registration requirements with either the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)
  • Current Driver's Licence and capacity to travel locally as required.
