About the Opportunity

The Dietitian Assistant role at Bankstown Hospital offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality nutritional care within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Working as part of the Nutrition & Dietetics Department, the assistant plays a key role in supporting patient wellbeing by ensuring that individual dietary needs and preferences are met. This includes engaging directly with inpatients to obtain daily menu selections, conducting food preference interviews, and assisting Dietitians in monitoring oral intake to support optimal nutritional outcomes.

In addition to patient-facing responsibilities, the Dietitian Assistant serves as a vital link between clinical staff and Food Services, helping to coordinate the accurate and timely provision of meals. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care. It is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about nutrition and healthcare to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting while making a meaningful difference in patients' recovery and quality of life.

What You'll be Doing

This position is part of the [insert facility, services or LGA] Nutrition & Dietetics Department. The Dietitian Assistant assists in maintaining a high standard of nutritional care for all inpatients by obtaining and managing daily menu choices, interviewing patients for their food preference, supporting the Dietitians in monitoring of oral intake and liaising with Food Services on the day to day provision of meals to patients.

Do you have Certificate IV or III in Allied Health assistance (Nutrition and Dietetic support) OR relevant qualifications OR minimum 12 months full time experience as Dietitian assistant with commitment to undertake Certificate IV in AHA within 12 months period of employment? Please ensure to attach copies of all relevant qualifications with your application

  2. Can you describe how you apply your knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets when supporting patient meal selections or dietary needs?

  3. How do you ensure effective communication with patients and staff especially when managing dietary preferences or restrictions?

  4. Describe your experience in using CBORD or tablets for menu selections. Give an example on how you were able to assist patient meeting dietary requirements with menu selection process.
