About Us
Nudgee Catholic Cemetery is a serene and historic resting place serving the Catholic community with dignity and care. We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Cemetery Worker to join our grounds team. This role ensures the cemetery grounds and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, providing a respectful environment for visitors and their loved ones.

Key Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance:

  • Operate ride-on mowers, hand mowers, and whipper snippers.
  • Undertake spraying, tree trimming, rubbish clearing, road maintenance, and drainage upkeep.
  • Maintain lawns and clear rubbish bins around the office.

Grave Operations:

  • Dig and reopen graves using excavators or other machinery.
  • Safely prepare graves for burials, including erecting safety fencing, backfilling, and topsoil restoration.
  • Break and repair concrete tops for monumental graves.

Ashes and Vaults Handling:

  • Bury ashes in graves, memorial gardens, and vaults.
  • Assist stonemasons in opening and resealing vaults and chapels for ashes placement.

Funeral Services Support:

  • Set up equipment such as coffin-lowering machines, flower racks, and chairs.
  • Prepare graves and chapels for services, including erecting marquees and signage.

Facilities Maintenance:

  • Clean and restock public toilets (toilet paper, paper towels, soap).
  • Maintain sheds and ensure secure storage of tools, machinery, and chemicals.

Equipment and Security:

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of machinery.
  • Report defects and assist with general servicing under supervision.
  • Secure all tools and equipment daily.

About You
Skills And Experience

  • Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related roles preferred.
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining machinery (mowers, excavators, etc.).
  • Understanding of workplace safety, particularly with hazardous materials and PPE.
  • Ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
