About the company

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cost Control Manager to join our dynamic team in either Auckland or Christchurch. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial aspects of our civil infrastructure projects. As a Cost Control Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient utilization of resources, monitoring project budgets, and implementing cost control measures to enhance overall project profitability.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets in collaboration with project managers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate and timely cost forecasts, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor project expenditures, analyzing cost trends and variations from the budget.
  • Conduct regular cost analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project teams to optimize resource allocation and utilization.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of labor, equipment, and materials, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Conduct thorough variance analysis to identify reasons for discrepancies between planned and actual costs.
  • Work closely with project teams to address and rectify any cost overruns or deviations.
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports, providing insights into project financial performance.
  • Communicate financial status and key metrics to senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Review and analyze contracts to ensure accurate cost representation and compliance with financial terms.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to address any financial implications within contracts.
  • Implement and refine cost control processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training and support to project teams on cost management best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Cost Control Manager in the civil infrastructure industry.
  • Strong knowledge of cost control principles, project budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as Excel, and project management software.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
