Full time position based in Goulburn

As a Tenancy Consultant for VERTO you will work with a dynamic and passionate team of Consultants to deliver the South West Tenants' Advice Program throughout your local region. The Tenancy Consultant will be responsible for providing advice, advocacy, referrals, support and community education to a range of client groups in their area. The service carries out its role with adherence to the NSW Fair Trading Tenants' Advice and Advocacy Program (TAAP) Guidelines. 

About the role….

Success in this role will be achieved by:

  • Engaging with clients and providing support and advice on tenancy issues;
  • Preparation and representation of clients at NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal;
  • Researching and gaining an understanding of the legislation relating to tenancy law;
  • Initiating contact with local agencies and advocating on behalf of clients;
  • Participating in community meetings, expos, supports groups to promote the service;
  • Maintaining documentation of client and agency contacts;
  • Ensuring accurate program administration and timely reporting to meet contractual KPIs;
  • Work as a part of a small cohesive team to achieve positive results and outcomes.

About you….

To be successful in this exciting and rewarding role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience working in a community service program and/or working with a disadvantaged client group.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the welfare industry is desirable
  • Experience in demonstrating a non-judgemental approach with a strong commitment to social justice
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated networking skills
  • High levels of administrative and computer skills
  • Current Driver's licence and willingness to travel
  • Willingness to undertake training with Tenants Union as specific to the role.
