
Project Manager – Dark Mofo 2026

Dark Mofo is returning in 2026 with a significant offering of large-scale installations, performances, and public activations across Hobart's most unique locations. We're seeking multiple experienced Festival and Event Project Managers to oversee a variety of projects for Dark Mofo 2026. They will also work closely with the Creative, Technical, Production, Programming, and Operations teams to interpret project needs and translate them into deliverable outcomes. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in the live event and large-scale project space – particularly in a Festival or Arts context – and who can bring exceptional organisational skills, creative problem-solving, and a steady hand under pressure to the delivery of world-class experiences.
The Gig:- Manage project budget(s), expenditure, and pursue cost efficiencies from scoping through to reconciliation.
- Translate project needs, working with curatorial and technical teams to realise the artistic vision.
- Oversee site planning, development, and delivery of venue/site(s) including required documentation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all internal departments (Creative, Technical, Operations, etc.) regarding project information.
- Manage onsite delivery teams and collaborate on resourcing, design, and operations.
- Ensure all Health, Safety, Risk Management, permits, and compliance requirements are met to the highest standard.
- Manage communications with internal/external stakeholders, local community, and surrounding businesses.
- Support festival management by considering and maintaining sustainability initiatives and venue contracting.
- Demonstrated project and production management experience in a technical events/live performance environment.
- Exceptional organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to simultaneously coordinate numerous projects with competing needs.
- Proven experience integrating the needs of various senior staff (e.g., Creative/Technical Directors).
- Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Assertive, organised, and able to maintain calm under pressure.
- Solid work ethic with a collaborative and flexible approach to problem solving.
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs and Google Workspace.
