PET Theranostics is the first dedicated PET CT and Theranostics centre for animals in the Southern Hemisphere.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) has emerged at the forefront for the diagnosis of cancer and location of metastatic diseases, neurological diseases such as dementia and cardiovascular or heart related diseases.

A PET scan is a nuclear medicine imaging test in which a small and safe amount of radioactive liquid is injected into the animal patient to show how an organ is functioning in real time and can detect cellular changes in organs and tissues earlier than CT and MRI scans.

We are looking to recruit an experienced minimum Cert IV veterinary nurse for our new centre located in Concord.

What we are Looking for someone who has:

  • Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) is essential
  • 4+ years of clinical nursing experience
  • Must have strong communication skills and love working as part of a team
  • Skilled in fear-free animal handling and patient care
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organisation
  • Positive attitude, sense of humour, and pride in your work
  • Motivated to keep learning and growing
  • NSW X-ray License preferred but not essential

Duties include:

  • holding animals to allow examination and treatment by Veterinarians.
  • cleaning and sterilising the scanner table and ancillary equipment
  • assisting Veterinarians in administering anaesthetics and oxygen during operations
  • placing animals in cages for recovery from their scans
  • giving medications to animals
  • maintaining stock control and records
  • providing animal care advice and preparing, delivering, and reviewing animal care education programs
  • may perform diagnostic laboratory tests.
  • may act as a receptionist, accept payments and undertake clerical work.
  • Assisting in radiation safety training and compliance (training provided)
