Belmont, New South Wales, Australia Australasian College for Emergency Medicine Full time $60,000 - $120,000 per year

Real Skills. Real Patients. Real Support.

Step into a training environment where you're known by name, supported by experienced clinicians, and given the opportunity to make a genuine impact, right from day one.

Belmont Hospital offers Emergency Medicine trainees a high-quality, hands-on clinical experience in a close-knit, supportive team, all just minutes from Beautiful Lake Macquarie and Newcastle's beautiful coastline.

Why Choose Belmont Hospital?

Belmont Hospital Emergency Department offers an ideal balance between a mid-size setting and extensive clinical learning opportunities. With approximately 29,000 presentations each year, including 4,000-6,000 paediatric cases, the department manages a broad spectrum of presentations across all age groups, providing comprehensive exposure to medical, surgical, and procedural care.

The culture within Belmont ED is highly supportive, with an emphasis on teamwork, professional development, and wellbeing. Trainees work closely with dedicated FACEMs, experienced nursing staff, and benefit from ready access to sub-speciality support across the district.

With fewer layers between you and the patients, you'll be actively involved in resuscitations, procedures, and direct patient care, all under expert supervision. When patients require transfer to a trauma centre, trainees gain valuable experience in providing initial stabilisation and ensuring patients are ready for safe transfer.

Education is embedded into the workplace, with regular simulation-based training and weekly protected Network teaching sessions. Staff also benefit from flexible rostering and good access to leave, supporting a healthy work-life balance.

Beyond professional development, Belmont offers an enviable lifestyle, combining short commutes with lakeside living and close proximity to Newcastle's beaches, cafes, and national parks.

Belmont ED will have a limited number of trainees which will ensure an opportunity for one-to-one supervision with enthusiastic FACEM supervision throughout the term. Additionally, there will be priority access to procedures for our local trainee. Finally, as Belmont has not relied on Trainees for service provision in the past, rostering and education will be flexible ensuring optimal training progression and work-life balance.
