Windsor, Queensland, Australia Karuna Hospice Services Full time $60,000 - $80,000 per year

Karuna Hospice Service Ltd ("Karuna") is a community-focused organisation guided by Buddhist principles. Karuna is dedicated to alleviating suffering by fostering choice, agency, and quality of life for all. Through specialised end-of-life care and other holistic supports, we provide compassionate, dignity-centred guidance to individuals, carers, and the broader community. As part of our team, you will help uphold these values with intent and compassion, to empower people to embrace both living and dying, and support them to find peace within.

Do you have lived experience of caring or having cared for someone with a life limiting illness and are looking to make a difference in the lives of others?

Join Karuna as a Peer Facilitator to deliver our In-Person Peer Support (IPPS) programs for carers. In this meaningful role, you'll create a safe and supportive space where carers (whether currently providing care or recently bereaved) can connect, reflect, and grow through the power of shared experience.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Facilitate engaging peer support sessions

  • Share your lived experience to build trust and foster resilience among carers

  • Promote wellbeing using the CHIME framework

  • Champion self-care, empowerment, and connection

  • Collaborate with the Karuna team to develop inclusive, community-led programs

What You'll Bring:

Essential

  • Your own lived experience as a carer of someone with a life-limiting illness

  • Confidence in group facilitation and storytelling

  • A Certificate IV in a relevant field or equivalent experience

  • Valid Driver's Licence, National Police Check and Blue/Yellow Cards

  • Legal right to work in Australia

  • A compassionate, respectful, and courageous spirit aligned with Karuna's values

Desirable

  • Multilingual skills

  • Knowledge of local carer and health support networks

Why Karuna:

Karuna is a place where people matter. Every conversation, every service, every step we take is grounded in humility, kindness, courage, and respect. Join a team that values human connection and works with purpose to support carers through every stage of their journey.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to access:

  • Not-for-profit salary packaging benefits to increase your take home pay

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and family members

A police check will be required for this role - we'll coordinate it and cover the cost.

At Karuna, we're proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported. We welcome people of all backgrounds and ensure fair treatment throughout every stage of employment.
