About Us

We are CMP Consulting Group Pty Ltd. We are part of Vysarn Ltd (ASX:VYS), a growing network of businesses focused on integrated water and infrastructure services. We are leaders in the water industry, and we are passionate about the impact we can have for Australian communities through our work. Everything we do, we do to provide excellent, long-lasting outcomes for our clients and the customers that we serve. We create value for our clients and our staff by challenging the status quo that is offered by multi-national consultancies.

About The Role

We have an excellent role for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with a history of undertaking design roles on water and wastewater treatment plant projects. This is a critical role within the business which will see you working on a wide variety of infrastructure projects in the water industry and in collaboration with other disciplines, project managers and client representatives. Hence your strong communication skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships, will be critical to your success.

What's exciting about this role is that you will have the opportunity to join a close-knit mechanical engineering team and become part of a well-regarded corporate culture with low staff turnover.

What Will You Be Doing

  • Lead Mechanical Engineer roles on water and wastewater projects, primarily for treatment plants and/or pump stations.
  • Assisting with mechanical design on projects being led by others.
  • Review of mechanical design works internally within CMP and by others, including drawings, project specifications, and equipment selections for new installations and upgrades.
  • Prepare and review project specific detailed documentation to support procurement and delivery of major projects.
  • Assisting with the development of mechanical standard templates and documents, either for internal use or for our clients.
  • Assisting with the technical development of less experienced mechanical engineers.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other systems.
  • Project management and/or design management roles on water and wastewater infrastructure projects (optional, not essential).
  • Building strong relationships with our clients and developing compelling technical proposals.

About You

We would like you to bring a proactive and consultative approach, with an ability to prioritise your work and get things done – and to enjoy what you do, like we do. Ideally you will also possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • More than 20 years' experience in the design of water and wastewater assets.
  • Experience within an engineering consultancy, or in a design role for a contractor or asset owner.
  • Ability to strengthen and grow existing client connections and support the building of relevant new relationships, as a trusted technical advisor.
  • CPEng and RPEV status or can be achieved within 6 months with CMP's support.
  • Broad knowledge of Australian Standards and clients' design standards/procedures for major water authorities in Australia.
  • Technical and commercial acumen with a focus on successful outcomes for our projects and our clients.
  • High levels of personal integrity, and a desire for continued professional development and improvement as an engineering professional.

Why Join CMP
