Cougar is an Australian owned and based leading equipment manufacturer and services supplier.  We have five locations and over 500 personnel on the eastern coast of Australia providing equipment and services to our major mining customers. Our five business pillars are Manufacturing, Drilling Services, Hire Equipment, Repairs/Overhauls and Parts.

The role

Are you a skilled and experienced mechanical fitter ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in full-time, permanent position based in Queensland on a 7/7 roster. If you have a strong safety culture, excellent communication skills, and a proactive attitude, we want to hear from you

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance on OEM and Hire Fleet machinery both onsite and in our Emerald or Mackay workshop.
  • Perform advanced technical troubleshooting and diagnostics on all OEM and Hire Fleet products.
  • Support OEM and Hire Fleet equipment.
  • Execute DES Code D tasks with precision and compliance.
  • Prepare documentation effectively and efficiently, including:
  • Shift reports
  • Safety tools and statutory documentation
  • Failure analysis reports
  • Non-conformance reports
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with the QLD Product Support Coordinator.

What We're Looking For

  • Trade Qualification: Must be trade qualified.
  • RIISS00030 Explosion Protected Diesel Engine System Maintenance Certificate
  • Generic Underground Induction (desirable)
  • Underground coal mining experience (desirable)
  • Underground diesel experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
  • Proactive and enthusiastic approach to customer service and teamwork
