Seeking an Individual Needs Teacher
The Individual Needs Teacher is a member of the Academic Staff based at our Ridgeway Campus. This role plays an integral part in supporting the intellectual, social, emotional and personal development of students, in line with the School's commitment to fostering young people of character who give their best to everything they do.
Working across Years 7 to 12, you will contribute to an inclusive, student-centered learning environment where every learner is known, challenged and supported to achieve personal growth.
This is a part-time (0.9 FTE) fixed-term position, commencing 23 January 2026 for a period of 12 months.
What you will do
In this role, you will foster a nurturing, student-centered learning environment where children feel known, valued and supported to flourish. You will tailor teaching approaches and adjustments to meet individual needs, working in partnership with classroom teachers and families to create meaningful pathways for growth. Drawing on contemporary learning theory and early-years developmental knowledge, you will support students' foundational skills, confidence and wellbeing, while modelling Ivanhoe's commitment to character, curiosity and continuous improvement .
You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills to:
- Tailor teaching methods, learning adjustments and modifications to support students' individual needs and strengths
- Use diagnostic assessment, student data and professional judgement to identify learning profiles and monitor progress
- Develop Individual Education Plans and Learning Profiles, documenting adjustments and supporting compliance requirements
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, the Individual Needs team and families to deliver cohesive and inclusive support
- Build trusting relationships with students and families, communicating progress, strategies and next steps with clarity and care

You bring:
- Teaching experience within a school setting, with relevant qualifications and expertise in supporting diverse learners; postgraduate study in Special Education, Curriculum or Pedagogy is desirable
- The ability to design and deliver targeted learning support using data, professional judgement and evidence-informed practice
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to build trust, collaborate effectively and engage confidently with students, staff and families
- A demonstrated commitment to child safety, inclusion, and student wellbeing, supported by current VIT registration
- A solutions-focused, growth-oriented mindset and the capacity to uphold high professional standards
- The ability to model and foster a culture of respect, reflection, resilience and responsibility, while supporting others to grow and succeed
