Senior Network Engineer

Catholic Schools Broken Bay (CSBB) is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our innovative Digital Enablement team, where you will be responsible for designing, building, and supporting the infrastructure that powers learning and collaboration across 45 schools, head office and Equinix/Global Switch datacentres.

This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-performing connectivity across diverse platforms including Telstra Ethernet, Pipe Networks, Pure IP, Vertel Telecoms, Equinix data centres, Palo Alto firewalls, and Aruba wireless systems, ensuring our students and staff have seamless and secure access to the digital tools they rely on every day.

This is a permanent, full-time role based at our head office in Pennant Hills, with the opportunity to work from home 1 day a week & will need to occasionally attend to schools as required.

Salary:Circa $162K + super

Role Responsibilities:

• Engineer scalable, secure networks that keep classrooms and data centres connected.

• Lead WAN integration projects, bringing together Telstra, Pipe Networks, and Vertel into a unified architecture.

• Design modern solutions with Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, and Zscaler technologies.

• Configure, troubleshoot, and optimise devices across LAN/WLAN/WAN environments.

• Travel to sites when remote fixes are not possible, ensuring uptime and reliability.

• Manage interconnectivity with Equinix and cloud platforms, keeping disaster recovery readiness front and centre.

• Drive innovation through leading upgrades, migrations, and new site deployments that align with CSBB's strategic vision.

Essential Criteria

• Supportive of, or can demonstrate an understanding and commitment to, the ethos of the Catholic faith in an educational context.

• Minimum 5–7 years' experience in enterprise network engineering, with demonstrated success in designing, implementing, troubleshooting and supporting complex multi-site environments.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• In-depth knowledge of enterprise network technologies and services in on-premises and cloud environments (Windows Storage Spaces Direct HCI Clusters and Azure).

• Deep understanding of Data Centre network technologies, including Cisco Nexus Spine and Leaf.

• Subject matter expertise in Switching (HP/Aruba) and Routing (Cisco ISR/ASR).

• Fundamental ITIL knowledge & Familiarity with Microsoft ecosystem tools: Azure AD, Intune, SCCM, Exchange Online, and M365.

• Proven expertise in managing and integrating Telstra Ethernet, Pipe Networks, Vertel Telecoms, or other carrier-grade WAN services.

• Experience working in a fast-paced and solution focused environment, with the customer in mind to serve their needs and requirements.

• Can manage competing priorities and the sensitivities of others to deliver high quality work.

• Current NSW Driver's Licence (and own car required).
