VMware Migration Specialist (3-Month Contract)

We are seeking an experienced VMware Migration Specialist to support a data centre migration project.

This is a 3-month contract role focused on executing a VMware-to-VMware lift-and-shift migration into a new physical data centre environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the migration of virtual machines and workloads between VMware environments according to the established migration design.
  • Perform migrations during scheduled outage windows (4 key cutover events).
  • Validate systems post-migration and coordinate with application owners for sign-off.
  • Ensure smooth cutover of workloads with minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, storage, and networking teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of migration steps, changes, and validation results.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and support to internal teams as required.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience delivering VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter migrations in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of VMware clusters, hosts, storage (SAN/vSAN/NAS), and networking (VLAN/NSX).
  • Experience with VMware migration tools and methods (e.g., vMotion, SRM, HCX or equivalent).
  • Ability to work in scheduled outage windows and manage change activities within defined timelines.
  • Familiarity with Aria monitoring (VMware Aria Operations) is an advantage.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across compute, storage, and networking layers.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work after hours as required.
  • The selected candidate will need to undergo a national Police Check and Background Check

Contract Details

  • Duration: 3 months to start asap
  • Location:Melbourne Airport area - hybrid arrangement
