About the role
This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for a dynamic educator who thrives on creating active, connected and confident learners. As Head of Key Learning Area: Physical Education/Health you will lead a team of educators who are committed to igniting a love of movement, sport and healthy living.
In this role you will possess the following skills and attributes:
- knowledge of contemporary teaching pedagogy and assessment practices,
- desire to lead with energy and passion as an advocate for the subject of physical education/health education, and key driver of the educational offerings to our middle/secondary students,
- ability to shape a vibrant, inclusive curriculum which celebrates health, teamwork and personal growth,
- possess high level interpersonal skills to quickly achieve trust and respect from the teaching team,
- mentor and empower staff through collaboration, coaching and shared success, and
- the ability to set high standards for student learning and teacher performance in the physical education/health subject space and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people both verbally and in writing.
Desirable
- knowledge/skills in outdoor education teaching and learning.

We are seeking a committed specialist with impressive expertise and passion for Physical Education/Health teaching and learning. Demonstrated excellence in their own classroom, pedagogical practice is central to this role.
This leadership position attracts a POR 2 allowance of $11,611 on top of teaching step [eg Step 10 teachers receive $125,789].
This College wide faculty leadership role has three significant responsibilities:
- the building of a cohesive and committed faculty team
- the development, articulation and implementation of the vision of the faculty
- support of students, staff and parents through appropriate information collation and dissemination across the year levels
All teachers are expected to support the Christian ethos of the College. It is hoped that the successful applicant would be able to actively contribute to the Christian life of the College.
