The NSW Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled procurement professional to lead comprehensive procurement functions, including contract development, tendering processes, supplier negotiations, and risk management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating procurement strategies, managing statewide contractual arrangements, and providing expert advice to stakeholders to ensure compliance with policies and standards.

The role involves fostering innovative supply solutions, enhancing procurement capabilities within the organization, and ensuring effective governance in a complex legislative and policy environment. Strong negotiation, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential to succeed in this position.

About you

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NSW Government procurement policies, systems, procedures and legislation including probity. Strong vendor and stakeholder management skills, fostering productive relationships with internal and external partners.In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to the industry.Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and organisational skills.Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

Tertiary qualifications in procurement or contract management and/or equivalent experience in procurement and contract management. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

  2. Describe a time you successfully managed a procurement or contract outcome where there were diverse stakeholders, including vendors and internal partners. How did you foster productive relationships, address challenges, and incorporate the principles of policies and partnerships to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who are not currently employed by the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC's validity (up to 5 years).
