Student Statutory Planner

Are you passionate about shaping the future of our city and developing your career in urban planning? Burnie City Council is seeking a Student Statutory Planner to join our Land Use Planning team.

In this role, you'll gain valuable professional experience while studying, working alongside experienced planners to support the delivery of quality development outcomes for the Burnie community.

What you'll be doing:

• Assisting with the assessment of planning applications and enquiries
• Learning statutory planning skills under expert guidance
• Managing simple planning applications from lodgement to decision
• Providing excellent customer service to residents and stakeholders
• Supporting compliance, reporting, and administrative tasks

What we're looking for:

• Current enrolment (or eligibility to enrol) in a tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or similar
• Strong administration and organisational skills, with attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret plans
• Great communication and customer service skills
• A team player who is keen to learn and contribute
