Primary objective

As part of the school leadership team, provide innovative leadership and management in developing and implementing initiatives,

strategies and programs to improve opportunities for the development of skills and experience to support pathways to employment. The

senior teacher will facilitate the development of stakeholder and organisational connections and implementation of community

partnerships to deliver engaging teaching and learning programs that develop and sustain strong levels of communication between the

school, families, community and industry in Maningrida.

Context statement

Maningrida Community College is located in one of the largest Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory, 550 kms east of Darwin.

Maningrida College offers education to approximately 660 students from age 0 to senior years as well as proving education services to up

to 15 Homeland Learning Centres. The College incorporates an Indigenous Languages and Culture Centre, Learning on Country Program,

Trade Training Centre, Family and Children Centre and Families as First Teachers program.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Undertake an appropriate teaching load and lead the implementation of programs, events and initiatives in collaboration with assistant

Principals, supporting upper primary learning pathways and secondary school engagement and pathways to employment.

1. Work as a member of the wider leadership team to provide educational leadership and management across the school to promote an

efficient, productive and harmonious working environment

2. Demonstrate leadership in and support for the development, implementation and review of school policies, procedures and strategic

planning through collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve school targets and outcomes.

3. Work with other Senior Teachers, Assistant Principals, and College Principal to drive the development of education and school

priorities as outlined in the ASIP at the College.

4. Case-manage students to develop plans and supports aligned with whole-school approaches for students to engage in learning and

experiences to support their identified pathway, which may include NTCET subjects, VET courses or project-based learning aimed at

employment pathways

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ability to consult, collaborate, and negotiate effectively and establish and achieve ongoing commitment to agreed

outcomes amongst stakeholders as part of a leadership team at the College

2. Demonstrated ability to use strategic, conceptual, analytical, and creative skills to identify and develop innovative strategies and

projects suited to a complex and changing environment in a comprehensive school

3. Effective, clear and respectful interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with colleagues and students within a remote school

setting which ensures staff teams and students feel supported.

4. Demonstrated ability to manage, in partnership with the College Leadership Team, innovation and school improvement relating to the

ASIP, School-wide Positive Behaviour and pedagogical practices.

5. Demonstrated ability to lead and implement curriculum initiatives related to pathways to jobs linked to the Australian Curriculum, VET

and NTCET and to work across teams effectively as a middle leader to improve students outcomes
