Architectural Technician / Draftsperson
JMC Architects – Cairns, QLD
JMC Architects is seeking a dedicated and experienced Architectural Technician / Draftsperson to join our dynamic studio team in Cairns. This is a full-time role for an immediate start with salary negotiable based on experience. Remote work is not offered for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate drawings, plans, and construction documentation for statutory approvals, design projects, and building works using both BIM and CAD technologies.
- Collate, research, and organize technical information and documentation relevant to architectural and construction projects.
- Contribute to site investigations, building surveys, and regulatory assessments, including regular attendance on-site for measurements and meetings.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and the design team, providing timely and professional technical guidance throughout project development and delivery.
- Coordinate and review documentation from sub-consultants and ensure compliance with quality management systems.
- Support the detailed design process through the development, editing, and revision of plans, schedules, models, and specifications as required for all stages of the project.
- Participate in team meetings, contribute to technical discussion, and assist in compiling comprehensive design and construction documents.
- Ensure all documentation is delivered accurately, on time, and to the standard required for stakeholders and statutory authorities.
Key Requirements
- Minimum qualification: Diploma in Architecture, Building Design, Architectural Drafting, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of post-qualification professional experience in architectural documentation and drafting within the Australian context.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Lumion, Photoshop, and other industry-standard software relevant to design and documentation.
- Demonstrated strength in design, documentation, and project coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and the ability to work collaboratively within a studio environment.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality, accurate project documents for architectural and building projects.
- Commitment to integrity, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism.
Other Details
- Immediate start available.
- Salary will be negotiated based on relevant work experience and qualifications.
- Located at the Cairns studio; all work to be completed on-site.
