We're seeking an exceptional Senior BMS Controls Design Engineer to join our fast-growing Melbourne team. In this pivotal role, you'll design, develop, and deliver advanced Building Management System (BMS) solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing infrastructure and drive the next generation of smart, efficient, and connected buildings.
Your deep expertise in Tridium Niagara and your passion for intelligent building automation will see you leading the design, programming, and implementation of large-scale BMS projects, both locally and globally. You'll also play a central role in evolving our new AWS-powered, GenAI-enhanced Encompass Blue platform, redefining how buildings are managed, optimised, and experienced.

Key Responsibilities- Design, program, and commission Tridium Niagara-based BMS systems for new and existing buildings.
- Lead BMS and IoT integration to deliver intelligent automation, analytics, and connectivity.
- Support pre-sales and solution development for new projects.
- Create detailed point schedules, hardware selections, control strategies, and BMS panel layouts and complete documentation.
- Develop IoT integrations using protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, and LoRaWAN.
- Collaborate with the software team to integrate AWS GenAI analytics and IoT dashboards.
- Supervise contractors and ensure systems are delivered to the highest technical standards.
- Migrate existing clients to our new Tridium/AWS ecosystem over the next 12 months.
- Provide remote after-hours support for client emergencies (no site attendance required).
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and continuous improvement to ensure peak system performance.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara BMS design, programming, and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of BMS protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.) and complex HVAC systems.
- Demonstrated capability with energy management, lighting control, and system integration.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication (top 5 percentile).
- Optional: experience with Node-RED or other IoT workflow tools.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience (degree may be waived in exceptional cases).
