Role

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the identification, planning and implementation of Tier 2 and 3 supports for students.
  • Oversee the administrative requirements of support applications, specifically working with the DIFS system to apply for Disability Inclusion Profiles.
  • Alongside learning specialists, provide guidance and training around inclusive adjustments and practices for teachers and education support staff.
  • Liaise directly with families and service providers in establishing and maintaining supports for students.
  • Lead education support staff in supporting students and teachers with implementing inclusive practices.
  • Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents and other school clients.

About our School:

Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College is a new school that opened in Werribee in January 2024. On opening Walcom Ngarrwa, welcomed 177 Year 7 students to the school community. Over the coming years, the school will add a new year level every year through until 2029, when we will have students from Year 7-12.

At Walcom Ngarrwa we are on a mission to provide the best education we can for our students by delivering high impact, evidence-based practices in learning and wellbeing, within a culture of high expectations for success. In 2025 our school community was made up of 440 students in total, across Year 7 & 8.   • The Red Giant - our amazing two storey Science and Technology building - with dedicated labs, materials and digital technology
  • The Nexus - our Learning Neighbourhood - featuring 9 general classrooms, multiple presentation and seminar spaces and an array of quiet and small group collaborative areas.
  • The Pavilion - our Community Hub that features 1 indoor basketball court, music and media spaces and a 100 seat auditorium.
  • Outside - we have extensive outdoor basketball courts as well as manicured landscaping that allows for multipurpose outdoor learning experiences.

Stage 2 funding has just been announced in the latest state budget and is due for completion by the start of the 2027 school year. This will include an additional Learning Neighbourhood, Administrative Building that includes admin, library and wellbeing spaces, and school playing field.
