About Us:

My Local Vet is an award winning, boutique small animal veterinary practice located in the leafy suburb of Capalaba, QLD. The clinic is privately owned and offers a premium veterinary service to the community. We're a seriously FUN and supportive team with a focus on personal development & upskilling. We take great pride in the standard of care we provide to our patients – we've got all the equipment required to do a great job and the time to do it as well.

With 4 consult rooms, separate dog and cat entrances and waiting rooms, dental suite, surgical theatre, radiology room, huge treatment area with dog and cat wards at opposite ends, and a dedicated sunset room - you won't find yourself lacking places to hide when the vet asks you to help trim a pug's nails. There's even a hammock for your lunchbreak siesta and an individual sound system for each area so you can personalise your workspace Check out our virtual clinic tour here:

Our team have created a workplace culture that's nothing short of inspirational. In fact, the University of Georgia (USA) uses My Local Vet as a model for teaching vet students about wonderful workplace culture True story. We have three awesome team events a year. Next one on the calendar is dinner & cocktails here  all expenses paid

The Team:

Dr Sam is "The Big Kahuna" AKA "The Owner/Old Guy" and thanks to his insatiable appetite for debt, we have a brand new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art veterinary facility that his kids will still be paying off long after he's gone. Check out this feature article in Best Practice Magazine - there's a photo of him sitting on some bald guy's hand – so cute

Dr Rachel is our lead vet, she has 9 years of experience, practices evidence-based medicine and has a special interest in behaviour.

Dr Bri has been qualified for two years but she's extremely dedicated and has already amassed a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

Our nursing team includes a USA trained Vet Tech with 7 years of specialist & emergency experience, and a genuine passion for sharing her knowledge. We also have an Aussie trained Vet Tech as well as two highly capable nurses currently completing their Cert IV. You won't find a more supportive and caring nursing team, no cliques or gossiping here

The Nursing Role at My Local Vet:

Our nursing team actually get to nurse After all, it's what they were trained to do.

Radiology, induction and intubation, high level anaesthetic monitoring for every patient (capnography, NIBP, ECG, SPO2), professional descaling, nurse consultations, IV placements, blood draws etc. They're not cleaning cages all day. Far from it, they're engaged in challenging, professionally-fulfilling work, and at the end of the day they don't have to worry about taking out bins or doing the floors – they leave that for the cleaners

Want to finish work each day feeling like you achieved something great?

Want to laugh until you pee yourself no matter how much propalin you slip in your coffee?

Want to work with a team who will support and cheer on your accomplishments?

Then, what are you waiting for?

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has at least 3 years of full-time nursing experience
  • Is efficient, reliable, and has great attention to detail
  • Has a great attitude and positive disposition
