About the role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a full-time position in a busy Italian restaurant. You must be confident in preparing and cooking a variety of Italian dishes, working under pressure, and maintaining high food quality and hygiene standards.
Key Duties
- Prepare, cook and present a wide range of Italian dishes according to our recipes and standards.
- Plan and organise daily kitchen operations, including food prep and cooking schedules.
- Ensure dishes are cooked consistently and plated to a high standard.
- Check freshness and quality of ingredients, including international produce.
- Manage portion control, minimise wastage and maintain stock levels.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff when required.
- Ensure the kitchen, benches, equipment and tools are cleaned and maintained.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations when preparing, storing and handling food.
- Work closely with the team to deliver timely service during busy hours.
- Contribute creative ideas for specials and menu improvements.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant chef or commercial cookery experience.
- Strong passion for Italian cuisine and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Solid understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work well in a team and handle busy service periods.
