About the Business Unit:

Department of Justice & Community Safety comprises of eight regions, through which compliance, enforcement and regulatory services are provided to the Victorian community.

The Loddon Mallee Region provides services at Justice Service Centres in Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca and Mildura and at outreach locations across the region, including Castlemaine, Maryborough, Kerang, Robinvale, Kyneton and Ouyen. The region has three prisons, Loddon Prison a medium risk facility and Middleton a restricted minimum facility in Castlemaine. The third prison Tarrengower is a minimum risk facility located in Maldon.

About the Role:

The Prison Officer/s - Commissioning and Workforce Planning will play an important role within the custodial environment, supporting commissioning activities.

Some of your duties will include:

• Working with all members of the prison to ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff and visitors
• Conducting patrols, searches and security-related activities while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures
• Maintaining high quality documentation in relation to case files, prisoner assessments, and report preparation.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

• Demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to use, computer software such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel, internal CV computer system, including Centurion and e-mail
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the operation within a prison environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to apply relevant legislation, policy and procedure relating to CV and the management of its prison facilities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• A full and current Victorian driver's licence
• Successful completion of the Corrections Victoria, Prison Officer Training Course
• Must be an employee of the Department of Justice & Community Safety.
