Job Title
Research OfficerJob Description
An excellent opportunity is available for a Research Officer to join the Brain Cancer Research Laboratory (Personalised Oncology Division) at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.
About the Position
The Research Officer is responsible for establishing and conducting experimental research using genetically engineered mouse models, in vivo imaging, and complementary cell and molecular biology approaches. The goal of this role is to generate high-quality data that drives new biological insights and supports pre-clinical therapeutic development.
A central focus of the position is the development and application of genetically engineered models of glioma to investigate tumour initiation, aetiology, treatment response and translational opportunities. This work directly supports the laboratory's mission of improving survival outcomes for patients with brain cancer.
The role will contribute to ongoing research programs informed by both published and unpublished work (e.g., Drummond et al., Nature Medicine 2025), while also developing new research directions that align with the laboratory's strategic priorities. The position involves close collaboration within a multidisciplinary team of cancer biologists, bioinformaticians and clinician scientists and may include supervision and mentorship to junior researchers and students.
