Overview

We are seeking a skilled
Data Engineer
to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that support analytics, reporting, and business insights. This role works closely with data analysts, data scientists, and engineering teams to ensure reliable, efficient, and high-quality data delivery across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform data from multiple sources.
  • Build and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and scalable storage environments.
  • Develop automated workflows and monitoring systems to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to understand data requirements and implement effective solutions.
  • Manage, optimise, and document database structures, schemas, and metadata.
  • Implement best practices for data security, governance, and quality assurance.
  • Work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to deploy and manage data services.
  • Improve system performance through code optimisation, indexing, and data modelling.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational/NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with Python, Java, or Scala for data processing.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and workflow orchestration (Airflow, DBT, Prefect, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as
    AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, Snowflake
    , or similar.
  • Understanding of data modelling, warehousing concepts, and distributed systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).
  • Exposure to CI/CD, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), or DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and metadata management tools.
  • Prior experience in data engineering roles within Australian or multinational organisations.
  • Certifications in cloud data engineering (AWS, Azure, GCP) are a plus.
