About the opportunity
SRJ is recruiting for one of our prestigious and well-known clients - The Northern Suburbs Rugby League Club.
The Northern Suburbs Rugby League Club, incorporating the licenced club and the football club (for accounting purposes), is an important hub for community support and rugby league growth in Brisbane's northern suburbs. We seek an experienced Senior Accountant, who together with the General Manager, will oversee all financial aspects of the Club.
This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position will provide strategic financial advice to senior management and play a key role in the club's financial planning and analysis to drive sustainable growth and profitability. The role reports directly to the General Manager of the North Devils Leagues Club.

Your duties will include:
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Develop and monitor performance against budget, and provide insights and recommendations to management
- Manage cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs and investment opportunities
- Responsible for managing payroll function including the payroll platform, payroll compliance and assisting with all associated payroll tasks when payroll staff are unavailable
Qualifications and personal attributes required
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred
- Proven experience in a senior financial management role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and present financial data
- Experience with financial software and systems, including advanced proficiency in Excel and Xero
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Have a successful track record of managing the financial affairs of an SME group, with competing priorities to achieve agreed outcomes
- Have an ability to work both at a 'hands on' level and strategically
- Sound knowledge of the hospitality and gaming industry (RSA and RSG certification preferred)
- Possess a positive and supporting view of the club industry and their contributions in the community, including the gaming aspects that are part of club offerings
