The Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation (YSRC) invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to join the Board of Yamatji Funds Management Limited (YFML) as MEMBERS.
YFML is a key governance body within the Yamatji Nation Group of Entities. Its primary function is to oversee and support the effective administration of the Yamatji Nation Trust, ensuring decisions are made with long-term impact and accountability for the benefit of current and future generations of the Yamatji Nation.
This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a commitment to good governance, intergenerational thinking, and a passion for supporting Indigenous-led wealth management and development.
ABOUT YFML
YFML was established as part of the implementation of the Yamatji Nation Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA)and is governed by a robust Constitution aligned with the Yamatji Governance Framework and Joint Governance Principles. Its role includes:
· Acting as a trustee and overseeing the administration of the Yamatji Nation Trust
· Ensuring compliance with trust obligations and the ILUA
· Supporting effective intergenerational governance and ethical investment
· Reporting transparently to the YSRC Board, Cultural Authority, and broader Yamatji community
RESPONSIBILITIES OF YFML MEMBERS
As a Member of YFML, you will be expected to:

Attend and actively participate in general meetings of YFML

Provide strategic insight and independent judgment on governance matters

Support YFML's compliance with its obligations under the ILUA and Trust Deed

Act in good faith and with due care, skill and diligence
-
Champion accountability, transparency, and cultural integrity in all dealings
POSITIONS:
We are currently seeking to appoint:
· TWO (2) NON-YAMATJI NATION MEMBERS
· ONE (1) YAMATJI NATION MEMBER
Appointments are for a three-year term, ending at the third YFML Annual General Meeting (AGM) following appointment. Members are eligible for reappointment, subject to the Constitution and assessment by the Nominations Committee.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must:
· Be at least 18 years old
· Be eligible to act as a director under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)
· Not be disqualified under the Corporations Act, ACNC Act, or other relevant laws
· Be Independent (i.e. not a current director, officer, or employee of a Group Entity)
· Hold or be able to obtain a National Police Clearance
· Identify as a Yamatji Nation or a Non-Yamatji Nation Person
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
We are seeking individuals who demonstrate:
· Governance or board experience (especially in not-for-profit, trust, or Indigenous contexts)
· Financial, legal, risk management, or investment knowledge
· Cultural knowledge and leadership (for Yamatji Nation applicants)
· Strategic thinking and capacity for long-term decision-making
· Strong ethical standards and commitment to public purpose
· Experience in intergenerational wealth, charitable entities, or community development
