Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation:
  • Prepare and cook a variety of tandoori dishes including, but not limited to, tandoori chicken, naan, roti, kebabs, and marinated vegetables.
  • Create marinades and spice mixes from scratch, using authentic ingredients and techniques.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner.
  • Cooking:
  • Operate and maintain tandoor ovens, ensuring they are used safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor cooking processes, ensuring dishes are cooked to perfection with the right flavor and texture.
  • Menu Development:
  • Assist in developing and refining the tandoori section of the menu.
  • Experiment with new recipes and techniques to keep the menu exciting and up-to-date.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
  • Place orders for necessary items, ensuring there are no shortages.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene:
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff as needed.
  • Customer Interaction:
  • Occasionally interact with customers to receive feedback and make adjustments to dishes based on their preferences.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Tandoori Chef or in a similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Indian cuisine, particularly tandoori dishes.
  • Proficiency in using tandoor ovens and other kitchen equipment.
  • Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality food.

Education and Experience:

  • Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with a focus on Indian cuisine.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy pots, pans, and food items.
  • Comfortable working in a hot kitchen environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Busy kitchen environment with exposure to heat, smoke, and potentially hazardous equipment.
