Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation:
- Prepare and cook a variety of tandoori dishes including, but not limited to, tandoori chicken, naan, roti, kebabs, and marinated vegetables.
- Create marinades and spice mixes from scratch, using authentic ingredients and techniques.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner.
- Cooking:
- Operate and maintain tandoor ovens, ensuring they are used safely and efficiently.
- Monitor cooking processes, ensuring dishes are cooked to perfection with the right flavor and texture.
- Menu Development:
- Assist in developing and refining the tandoori section of the menu.
- Experiment with new recipes and techniques to keep the menu exciting and up-to-date.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Place orders for necessary items, ensuring there are no shortages.
- Food Safety and Hygiene:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff as needed.
- Customer Interaction:
- Occasionally interact with customers to receive feedback and make adjustments to dishes based on their preferences.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Tandoori Chef or in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of Indian cuisine, particularly tandoori dishes.
- Proficiency in using tandoor ovens and other kitchen equipment.
- Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality food.
Education and Experience:
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with a focus on Indian cuisine.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy pots, pans, and food items.
- Comfortable working in a hot kitchen environment.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Busy kitchen environment with exposure to heat, smoke, and potentially hazardous equipment.
