We are seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our professional workshop team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified tradesperson who takes pride in their work and is committed to maintaining the high standards our customers expect. This is a full-time, ongoing position, offering 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday), with the possibility of overtime when required.
Key Responsibilities
As a Motor Mechanic, your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues in engines, transmissions, steering, braking, and related vehicle systems.
- Repairing or replacing defective parts, reassembling components accurately, and utilising technical manuals where appropriate.
- Performing regular servicing, including oil changes, lubrication, brake maintenance, and engine adjustments to optimise vehicle performance.
- Disassembling and inspecting engines, gearboxes, and other components to identify faults and determine required repairs or replacements.
- Testing, calibrating, and fine-tuning repaired systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with roadworthiness standards.
- Using advanced diagnostic equipment and computer systems to pinpoint faults and carry out precise, effective repairs.
- Preparing inspection reports, roadworthy assessments, and compliance documentation as required.
- Maintaining workshop safety standards, collaborating with colleagues and suppliers, and delivering reliable, customer-focused service.
Skills & Experience – What We're Looking For:
- Qualified Motor Mechanic with a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification)
- At least 1 year of hands-on trade & diagnostic experience
- Strong ability to diagnose and repair engines, driveline, suspension, braking systems, and carry out timing belt replacements.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality workmanship that meets safety and compliance standards.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A reliable team player with good customer service skills, who can also work independently with minimal supervision.
- Availability to perform overtime when required.
