About the Role
The Senior Youth Counsellor is a pivotal role within the leadership team. This position delivers evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people and their families. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide office-based, outreach and/or telehealth individual or group interventions to young people accessing our services
- Support intake assessments of young people in line with organisational processes
- Work collaboratively across internal and external services to ensure integrated care for the young person
- Participate and support regular clinical case reviews and team meetings, ensuring appropriate clinical service pathway
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records in approved database systems
- Provide support, guidance and clinical supervision to students and staff, when required
- Contribute to practice development and support of team members through case consultations, clinical education, and case reviews.
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with suitable external stakeholders.
To be considered for this position, applicants will have:
- Tertiary level qualifications (bachelor's or higher) in a relevant clinical discipline including psychology, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, or mental health nursing.
- Current membership or registration with an appropriate professional body.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in carrying out detailed psychosocial and suicide risk assessments and escalation procedures, with capacity to guide and support staff in effectively managing risk.
- Ability to work appropriately with diverse young people and stakeholders, including LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, and CaLD people.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including role modelling, supervision and providing support to staff and students.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working both in a clinical setting and in an outreach/co-location capacity (non-government or NFP advantageous).
- 'C' Class driver's licence, access to a reliable and willing to travel within the Perth metro area, as required
- Capacity to work outside of standard hours, as required
