Senior Horticulturist

Diplomatik is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Horticulturist to join one of our clients' teams in Crawley.  The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and beautifying our outdoor spaces.

The role is a permanent role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve gardens, lawns and landscaped areas
• Prune, plant and care for fruit trees and ornamental plants
• Manage and cultivate vegetable and herb gardens
• Oversee maintenance of beehives and support seasonal harvesting
• Implement environmentally sustainable horticultural practices
• Apply pest and weed control methods with an emphasis on organically controlled measures
• Operate and maintain irrigation systems
• Lead the planning and design of garden areas
• Monitor plant health and soil conditions to optimise growth
• Ensure compliance with WHS and environmental regulations
• Undertake training and management of other horticultural employees
• Prepare project and operating budgets for grounds
• Responsible for the procurement of goods and services related to grounds management
• Manage grounds storage containers ensuring compliance with WHS Policy
• Support the College achieve its sustainable outcomes

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years in a similar role
• Certificate III or higher in Horticulture, landscape design or related field
• Demonstrated experience in planning, maintaining and enhancing diverse garden environments
• Extensive knowledge of fruit tree care, soil management and organic growing methods
• Experience in the use and maintenance of horticultural equipment and machinery
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Understanding of safe chemical handling and WHS requirements
• Interest or experience in beekeeping is desirable
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a small team
