Job Description:

EM Solutions (EMS) is a Brisbane-based growing high-tech company with operations across the globe. As a world leader in the design and manufacture of "on-the-move" satellite communication terminals, we are proud to offer an exciting and innovative workplace with a talented workforce.

We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced RF Engineer to take responsibility for the design, documentation and testing of a range of microwave and RF products as well as collaborating with the Production and Defence Projects teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and simulation of electrical/electronic hardware part and products from component level to module level
  • Optimise component selections balancing performance, price and availability
  • Work with RF and mechanical teams to achieve design objectives
  • Create accurate BOMs and provide quality documentation for the manufacturing and testing of the products and systems
  • Take a hands-on role in championing your prototype designs through the build, test and troubleshooting stages
  • Design verification and testing, including compliance to external standards such as EMI/EMC for commercial, aerospace and military applications
  • Environmental and reliability testing of products and larger systems
  • Manage test schedules and write detailed test plans, procedures and performance reports
  • Build test jigs and write test software

Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of RF and microwave principles and best practice
  • Skilled in PCB design techniques
  • Ability to use RF design software packages such as ADS and Genesys
  • Familiar with RF test equipment including VNA, Spectrum analyser, Power meter, etc.
  • A good understanding of electronic circuits especially EMI minimisation techniques
  • Exceptional time management and attention to details
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite in order to produce a variety of documentation

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in the design of RF/microwave related hardware components or equivalent
  • Proven experience using Altium software
  • Experience in the design of system level concepts for satellite and other electronics equipment would be an advantage
  • Possession of, or the ability to qualify for, an Australian defence security clearance (baseline minimum, NV1 preferred)
